FAQs

Xylitol is a natural sugar alcohol that inhibits the growth of the bacteria that cause cavities. That’s because decay-causing bacteria are unable to use xylitol as a food source.  With prolonged xylitol use, fewer and fewer of this bad bacteria survive on tooth surfaces. This leads to less plaque and the level of acids attacking the tooth surface is also lessened.

Xylitol has been widely-studied for the past 40 years and has been approved for safety by the Food and Drug Administration of the Philippines, as well as the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, the World Health Organization’s Joint Expert Committee on Food Additives and the European Union’s Scientific Committee for Food.

Glycerin: A toothpaste needs an ingredient that helps prevent it from drying up and to consistently maintain its moisture level. This is where glycerin comes in, an organic compound sourced mainly from plant and vegetable oil, and acts as a humectant retaining or preserving the moisture and the texture of the toothpaste even when the cap is opened. Glycerin is colorless, odorless, and a viscous liquid that is sweet tasting and non-toxic.

Fibregum™: An added ingredient to the SansFluo Natural Toothpaste for Kids, Fibregum™ is 100% natural Acacia Gum with dental care benefits that have been described in numerous studies. It contains enzymes that destroy bacteria-causing tooth decay and unhealthy gums thus helping prevent or reduce gingivitis. It also creates a protective film, shielding the teeth, without causing any discoloration, and it enhances remineralization suggesting its potential in inhibiting dental caries.

Natural Flavors: It is a delightful experience for infants and children up to 4 years old to taste the flavors of SansFluo Toothgel Cleanser during tooth brushing. Combine this with a mild, cool feeling and the sweet tasting flavor of xylitol and you positively attract your child to tooth brushing thereby slowly building up the habit of practicing good oral habits at an early age. Choose between strawberry, orange, honeydew vanilla, and strawberry creme. The flavors have met the US and Philippine FDA as food grade ingredients.

Sodium Carboxymethylcellulose: A simple mixture of the flavors and active
ingredients to make a toothpaste is simply not enough. It may get too creamy or dry or watery. You need Sodium Carboxymethylcellulose, a stabilizing agent that mixes and moulds the liquid and solid materials and holds them into one sparkling, fresh and smoothly textured toothpaste. Interestingly, it is also used as an ingredient in ice cream to keep it from separating.

Hydrated Silica: It is an odourless, tasteless white powder. Hydrated silica is milled and ground to its smallest and finest particle to mix and blend with the other toothpaste ingredients achieving the right amount of thickness and cleansing use.

Sorbitol Solution: A clear solution that is used to sweeten some food products similar to xylitol. Sorbitol solution functions as a humectant to keep the viscosity and moisture of the toothpaste and help prevent it from drying and hardening when the cap is opened.

Sodium Benzoate: It is a common preservative in food, medicine, and cosmetic products like toothpaste. It is a sodium salt of benzoic acid, which is naturally occurring in apples, cranberries, plums and cinnamon in low levels.  Regarded as safe by the US and Philippine FDA, Sodium Benzoate has not been known to be an allergen or sensitizer or toxic in the concentration used in food and cosmetics.

Citric Acid: It is naturally occurring in citrus fruits. It is used in cosmetics like SansFluo Toothgel Cleanser as a pH level adjuster, preservative, flavor enhancer and stabilizer. Citric acid also serves as a good additive to prevent bacterial growth.

Xylitol: It is a plant based natural sweetener that is found to prevent any build up of plaque in the mouth causing tooth decay. Xylitol is non-cariogenic. When xylitol is present in the mouth, the army of bad bacteria like the MS (Mutans Streptococci) are unable to produce acids that cause tooth decay, unhealthy gums and bad breath. Studies have also shown that xylitol re-mineralizes the tooth enamel at the onset of tooth decay.

Purified Water: It is clean and safe water that perfectly fits as a solvent in the formulation of safe yet effective baby toothpaste thereby giving the parents with comfort and peace of mind.

Yes! It was formulated with xylitol thus eliminating the risks associated with ingesting flouride-based toothpastes.

Yes, in fact that’s the reason behind its name! SansFluo is short for “without flouride.”

The products contain low amounts of commonly-used and safe preservatives like sodium benzoate and citric acid which help prevent bacterial and fungal growth. Please check the packaging for the expiration dates.

You can use SansFluo Tooth and Gum Wipes even before the first teeth erupt to cleanse your baby’s mouth after feeding. As soon as the first tooth appears, start brushing your child’s teeth regularly using SansFluo Natural Toothgel cleanser using our dental brush and gum massager or pengrip toothbrush.

The pen grip is intended for the parent to hold while brushing the child’s teeth. Have your baby lie on your lap and hold the toothbrush like it were a pen, using your thumb and forefinger. Using a pen grip, as opposed to gripping it with four fingers against the palm of your hand, results in less pressure being applied and thus is abrasive against the teeth and gums.

Use it after feeding, when toothbrushing is not accessible.

Because this is already training your child for the lifelong habit of tooth-brushing, use it at least twice a day, after feeding and especially at night, before putting your child to bed

SansFluo Baby is mildly-flavored and ideal for children 0-4 years of age. Once they hit 4 years old, you can shift them to the more flavorful formulations of SanFluo Kids. Unlike the Baby Toothpaste, the Kids Toothpaste also produces some bubbles that add a pleasant sensation for young kids.
